The “Red wedge” posters refer to the popular Soviet slogan Мир. Труд. Май. (Peace. Labour. May.), which was used at May Day demonstrations on International Workers’ Day.
It’s based on a play on similar-sounding Russian words:
Мир—Mir [mʲir]—Peace
Труд—Trud [trut]—Labour → Труп—Trup [trup]—Corpse
Май—Mai [maj]—May → Рай—Rai [raj]—Paradise.
[The poster alludes to El Lissitzky’s propaganda poster Beat the Whites with the Red Wedge].
